Attic Conversion to Master Bedroom and Bathroom in Chicago, IL

This was a great project!

We moved the HVAC and all duct work that was originally in unfinished attic to be behind walls. All new duct work was custom made by one of our HVAC specialist! We changed out the A coil and condenser to a 3 ton unit to handle the additional floor.

The owner Joe and lead tech Ariel designed this space from scratch. Aside from having to run all new electrical, plumbing, duct work etc. We added two skylights, new windows, bathroom from scratch with a custom walk in closet and walk in shower. Changed stairway to bring up to code matching the original oak railings to the home to continue the original look on all 3 floors. Used any odd spaces that would of been normally lost space into custom storage areas such as bottom of stairway has built in shoe and hat rack. Back panel in bedroom closet that opens up walk way to HVAC to be able to service the furnace in the future with ease!

Client Review

Positive: Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, Responsiveness, Value

Best experience we could have possibly imagined! I cannot say enough good things about working with Forty Eight Oaks. We had several companies come to give us quotes to turn our unused, dilapidated attic into a king size bedroom and bathroom. When Joe came out we knew we found the right team. He walked us through every detail in an honest straightforward way.

Joe is always quick to respond and we got a quote/contract signed in no time. When construction began Ariel was assigned to the project. Ariel is the best!!! He showed up happy and energetic every single day. He always kept us up to date on the work and his attention to detail is amazing. He is so talented he was able to add detail to make this new construction attic blend beautifully with our 100+ year old house. I think we have been totally spoiled by this experience. This was the first time we have done a large project like this and our friends warned us that it was going to be a hard process. They also told us we wouldn’t be able to stay in our house during the process. We were prepared to move out for a while if necessary but Ariel kept things so neat that we never felt it was necessary to leave, even with a three year old at home.

I will go out of my way to recommend them to friends and family and will probably try to come up with new projects myself! We are going to miss seeing them on a daily basis but we are so so happy with the space they gave us!
